A Novel Linking-Domain Extraction Decomposition Method for Parallel Electromagnetic Transient Simulation of Large-Scale AC/DC Networks

Domain decomposition of the network conductance matrix is one efficient approaches to solve large-scale networks in parallel, wherein most commonly-used non-iterative method Schur complement (SC) method. However, SC could not obtain inversion directly, and computational cost will increase fast when overlapping domain expands. In this work, a novel Linking-Domain Extraction (LDE) based proposed, which expressed as sum linking-domain (LDM) diagonal block (DBM) composed multiple matrices diagonal. Through mathematical analysis over LDM, lemma about nature LDM its proof are proposed. Based on lemma, general formulation inverse DBM can be found using Woodbury identity, directly computed parallel significantly accelerate process. Test systems were implemented both FPGA GPU architectures, simulation results speed-ups Gauss-Jordan elimination demonstrate validity efficiency proposed LDE

In this work we consider the solution of 3D time domain electromagnetic inverse problems. Solving such problems is an open challenge as they require very high computational resources.
